Then to see what a larger university does the researcher went to University of British Columbia. The main take away is how much resources and information they provide to their students.

STARS
The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System also known as STARS is a reporting system to help colleges and universities report on sustainability. It has a rating system and online reporting. The rating system allows for classification of the college or university in gold, silver, or bronze medal. The reporting system allows for reporting of a wide variety of sustainability options. You must be a member to see the reports.

To learn more about STARS a few places are good starts. These places were used to help inform the project.
STARS Reports that were used
multiple STARS reports were used focusing on Canadian colleges. You require an account to view these reports.
Selkirk College OP-18: Waste Minimization and Diversion
Fanshawe College OP-18: Waste Minimization and Diversion
Justice Institute of British Columbia OP-18: Waste Minimization and Diversion
For the purposes of e-waste the reports from STARS were not specific enough. It was only a simple answer of "yes" or "no" to the recycling of e-waste. Colleges could go further into detail on their own but was not required and generally not practiced. The lack of reporting on e-waste means STARS is not a good reporting solution for e-waste, it can be useful for general sustainability.
A very valuable report is Identifying Opportunities for Enhanced Ewaste Management in Canadian Post Secondary Institutions (pp. 1–26) by Nietresta, E.
